CURTIS TROY DAVIS sends this in:

Comments: My name is Curtis Troy Davis. Very impressed with your website. I hope to learn and am very eager to find out more!!! With my last name of Davis, I turn to my mothers maiden name to learn my past. I will tell you what I have heard around the campfire, from my mother & grandmother and who these people are and where they lived. Please contact me ASAP if any of this info is familiar!!!

My name: Curtis Troy Davis. My sister: Heidi Davis Son & Daughter of Curt & Ladora Davis

My Mother: (maiden Name) LaDora Plemons was born: Cortez,CO December 14, 1945

Daughter of Louie & Pauline Plemons...lived in Cortez & Durango CO

My mothers siblings include: Margaret, Roy, Louise & Dixie.

Passed from what I heard from my mother & Grandmother:

Louie Plemmons came from a very prosperous family in the South. I remember distinctly about a story my grandmother telling me of a distant Plemons who was a Texas Ranger, killed a man, and fled to first Oklahoma, then Colorado. I have also recently learned from my mother that the Plemons family pre Civil War had a huge servent owning Plantation in Geogia. After the Civil War, the Plantation was burned to the ground and the family was left with nothing. Again I hope to learn more. My mother has many old photo's of our Plemons roots that I would love to share. I would love to put you in contact with her. Please contact me: troydavis81@hotmail.com

C. BUFORD PLEMMONS sends this in: (Does anyone connect to this family?)

My family and I have really enjoyed your "BRANCHES". My father was DAVID WESLEY PLEMMONS 1899-1982 born in OK, Indian Territory. My Grandfather was JOE WESLEY PLEMMONS. I am told Grandad's family came from near Johnson City, TN to near Marlow, OK.

My two sons Duane Stacy Plemmons (now living in Singapore with Hewlett-Packard) and Kerry Buford Plemmons of Littleton, CO are very interested in family history. I never knew of any of my Grandad's family.

(Thanks Buford, for the letter and the generous donation to help us defray the cost of "BRANCHES". Warren and Joe)

CLAUDE WESTERFIELD sends this in:

I just finished reading Branches Summer-2000 My oh My What great information. I appreciate the hard detail work that is being done.

I just recently returned from McGregor, Texas where I attended my 45th High School reunion. On the Sunday morning I went to Shilo Bap Church at Ocee, Texas.

I lost the address of the church, and hope Fred Nelson will send it to you.

This is a church the Plemons either started or helped keep going. I can remember as a boy going out there and having dinner on the grounds. Eating and singing and preaching all day long. The old cover is still there, but they have a beautiful church now. I knew that Dwight Plemons attended there and hope that some of the other kin might be there. And had some small hope that I might be able to speak that day at the service, but they were ordaining a deacon and installing two more. This is an indicator of a strong church. But as I got there and introduced myself I was escorted back to the Sunday School class by Dwight and the teacher was a Larry Plemons and everywhere I turned there was a plemons.

So what I would like for you to do after you get the address from Fred, is to send a copy of Branches to the church, ( if you have some extra back copies send too) At the church the families can decide to write you and share more info.

I took pictures of J.T. and Dicy's Grave as well as Charlie and Mary Plemons Walter ( my grandparents) I hope they took. I am having two copies made for your review. Will send to Joe and then he can share. They can be used as you see fit.

Many of Mary's children are buried in the Crawford Cemetery. Fred's Mother and Father is buried there. She was Martha sister to my mother Jeanetta K.

With the last copy of Branches, I made a lot of corrections to my file. Would it help to send you a new package. It is no trouble to send it via email.

All those on the front page are in my file. I changed Samuel to John and Sarah and moved Andrew to Harriet. That was quite a chase to correct that one.

We had a Whisenat in McGregor when I grew up, he was the choir director at the College Ave. Baptist Church.

I also have a copy of the picture of Dicy and the children. Has anyone found out who her parents are? I went to a Chastain family reunion in Houston one time. they are some might fine folks.

Calvin Dorris is very good at searching for details. He provided me with a lot of help.

I found Bruce's account very interesting and help me correct some connections I had.

This came via the internet to Joe and Janet

My name is Jack Brumlow. I am looking for information on my great great grandfather. His name is supposed to be Thomas Plemons.

My mothers name was Margaret Annanell Plemons, She was born Oct. 12.1923 in Kingston, Tn. Her father was Frank Plemons Who was born June 21.1893 and died July 1967. His Father was Mose Little Plemons. He was born March 31.1868 and died April 6.1950 in Kingston, TN. I am not sure if he was born in TN. or NC. His father was supposed to be Thomas Plemons. I have a picture which is supposed to be Thomas in a civil war uniform. He looks to be about 17 to 20 years of age at the time. This is the only information I have of Thomas. I would appreciate any information you could give me.

Hello Jack ; My name is Warren Plemons

My father was Walter Benjamin Plemons and his father was James Benjamin Plemons. James Benjamin is brother to Thomas Jacob Plemons. I have done some research on that branch of the Plemons family and have some information that might be of interest to you. I can mail a copy of what I have to you or, if you have capability to read either a GED file or a Family Tree Works (FTW) file, I can send it via the email.

We publish a quarterly newsletter called Branches. Mose was on the cover of one of the recent issues. I also have a picture of Mose's wife, Pheba Tinnel. (Thanks to Andrea Coggins, another of your relatives) I have pictures of most of Mose's children except Roxie. I have one of Frank around Xmas time. I can recall Mose coming to our house for dinner when I was small. He was quite a character. I have listed most of Frank's children and I recall that all of the girls names began with an "M" but I don't have any information on Margaret, your mother, or anything further on most of them. I have Marie, Maxine, Mary, Mildred, & Martha for the girls and Herbert & Harry for the girls. You would probably know more than me. If this is not correct, please let me know. And I have no information on the birth and death dates on any of Frank's children.

I would sure like to trade information with you if you have the time. By the way, Thomas J.'s mother and father were Jacob Plemons and Adaline Harden. And that is as far back as I have been able to go. I cannot find where Jacob was born, although I have always heard that he came across the mountains from North Carolina via Buncombe County. (Another group of Plemmons/Plemons migrated from southern North Carolina down into Gilmer County Georgia.)

Warren

Jack Answers

: Sure was surprised and glad to get your e-mail. Thanks for the additional information on Thomas Jacob. All I have was an initial Thomas J. Plemons. I sure would appreciate any information you could send me. Also if you have a copy of a news letter I would appreciate it. I don't have any pictures of anyone. Our old house burned a few years ago and most of the stuff was lost. My sister has some pictures of my Mom and dad and at some time in the future I plan on making some copy`s.

You were right in all the girls names starting with an "M." The girls names are: Margaret Annanell, Mary Jane Adeline, Clara Mae Maxine, Laura Mildred, Mattie Marie, Maude Martha Lynn. The boys were Joe Moses Herbert, Charles Hugh D. Franklin and Harry Franklin.

All of the children of Mose are still living except Herbert who passed away in 1967.I am not sure of the exact date, My Mom Margaret Passed away in 1957, and Hugh passed away in 1999. The rest of them still live in Kingston except Mary who lives in Arizona.

Herbert B. 1918 D. 1967.

Margaret B. Oct 12.1921 D. May 16.1957
