TENNESSEE STATE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

JOINT RESOLUTION 31

By Sharp

A RESOLUTION to honor Jayne Plemons on the occasion of her retirement.

WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this legislative body recognize those who in their years of work have performed with extraordinary dedication and unprecedented devotion; and

WHEREAS, Jayne Plemons is one such outstanding person who has served with warmth and graciousness for twenty-four years at Lookout Mountain’s Fairyland Market; and

WHEREAS, her care and attentiveness to the customers of Fairyland Market have endeared her to the families, children and longtime residents of Lookout Mountain; and

WHEREAS, Jayne Plemons has gone above and beyond her responsibilities at the market, braving inclement weather to deliver food to the sick or bereaved, working past closing hours to meet the special requests of her customers and offering sound advice to families and children of the mountain; and

WHEREAS, her retirement is a loss for Fairyland Market, but a wonderful gain for her church, St. Elmo Church of Christ, where she will become more involved in volunteer work and church-related activities; and

WHEREAS, her future plans will be welcomed by her devoted husband, Bob Plemons, who will share with her their love of reading and travel and commitment to St. Elmo Church of Christ; and

WHEREAS, Jayne Plemons has made a difference in the lives of so many and is loved and respected for her spirit and dedication; now, therefore,

LET IT BE RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE-HUNDREDTH

GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE CONCURRING, That me congratulate Jayne Plemons on the occasion of her retirement from Lookout Mountain’s Fairyland Market after twenty-four years of dedicated service, and extend to her our sincere appreciation for embodying the spirit and determination of a great Tennessean.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation to Jayne Plemons with the final clause omitted from such copy.

I know that the above information is old, but lately there has been so much negative information in the local papers about the family that I thought that it might be a good time to look for some positive thoughts and proclamations about the family.

Previously, I have screened the bad information out of the newsletter and tried to show the pride that most of us feel in the Plemons/Plemmons name. Some have told me that this is wrong of me; that I should publish the news about the family as it occurs – bad breath, warts and all. Your thoughts on this would be appreciated. - Warren
