OBITUARIES

 

MACK ROY PLEMONS

, 81, of the Blue Springs Community near Sweetwater, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2000 at Sweetwater Valley Convalescent Home.

A native of Kingston and longtime resident of Monroe County, he was a retired employee of the City of Sweetwater. He was a son of the late Mack and Katy Parks Plemons and was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Louise Watts Plemons; two sons, Mack Lee Plemons and John Elmer Plemons, two brothers; and three sisters. He was of the Holiness faith.

Survivors include one daughter, Effie Meadows of Madisonville; three sons, Roy Plemons of Madisonville, Ernest Plemons of Englewood; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Ricky Pryor and Rev. Harold Gudger, Sr. Officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Bluff Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Ziegler Funeral Home of Athens, Tennessee is in charge of arrangements.

JESSE T. PLEMONS

age 83 of Eureka Road, Rockwood, TN passed away Sat, 2 Dec 2000 at U.T. Hospital. He was a retired bridge inspector with State of TN Dept of Transportation, U.S. Air Force Veteran of World War II, member of the Eureka Baptist Church, Rockwood, Masonic Lodge #403 F&AM, Scottish Rite, Shriner, Rockwood VFW & American Legion. Preceded in death by parents, William and Molly Plemons: brother, Bob Plemons; sister-in-law, Grace Plemons, Margaret Plemons; brothers-in-law, Johnny Smith, Tom East. Survived by wife, Ophelia L. Plemons, retired Registered Nurse of Rockwood; brothers, Clifford Plemons and wife Willie Mae of Rockwood, Bill Plemons and wife Shirley of Tulsa, OK, Ernest Plemons and wife Eva of Wyandotte, MI., Raymond Plemons of Rockwood and Gene Plemons and wife Joyce of Rockwood; sister, Bertha Smith of Rockwood. Interment was Wed 6 Dec in Roane Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Delmer W. Plemons

, age 80, of Crandall, passed away Monday, January 22, 2001, at Murray Medical Center.

Mr. Plemons was a retired businessman who owned and operated Plemons' Upholstery in Chatsworth for 35 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a former POW in Germany. He served in several theaters of war and received several awards, including the Purple Heart on two occasions. He was a member of American Legion Post Number 169, Chatsworth and the Eton Masonic Lodge No. 509 F&AM.

 

His parents, W.G. and Addie Plemons; a son Delmer Plemons, Jr; and a grandson, Geremy Lawrence, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife Katherine Kelley Plemons of Crandall; daughters Carolyn Criswell of Chatsworth; Wanda Evans, Margaret Lawrence and Kaye Anne Plemons, all of Crandall; a son James Kelley Plemons of Dalton; granddaughters, Pam Plemons Keefer of Chatsworth, Bridgett McCurdy and Kelley Plemons of Dalton, Lisa Lawrence of Villa Rica, Bill Evans and Daniel Evans of Crandall and nine great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Brother Clayton Brown and Rev. Carson Scarborough officiating. Eton Masonic Lodge No. 509 F&AM will be in charge of Masonic rites. Members of

American Legion Post No. 169 Chatsworth will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today after 6 p.m. Peeples Funeral Home of Chatsworth is in charge of arrangements.

LOUIS J. AKIN

, age 85 16 Sep 1915 - 16 Feb 2001died peacefully at home on Friday.

He is survived by his wife of 62 yrs, JUNE PLEMMONS AKIN; two daughters, Lorraine Buhrmann of Lake Mary, FL., and Dana Vereen of Loganville, GA.; four grandsons, Jason, Matthew, Judson and Stefan Vereen.

WILFORD H. (BILL) PLEMMONS

- age 76, of Knoxville, died Fri 9 Jun 2000. He was preceded in death by parents, Wiley F. & Pearl Booker Plemmons. Survived by: wife, June Wayman Plemmons; son, Scott Allen Plemmons; daughter and son in law, Sara & Terry Cashion; grandchildren Cassandra and Joshua Plemmons, Daniel Weigle, all of Knoxville; sister and brother in law, Bernice & James Wininger of Oak Ridge. Interment was 12 Jun at Lynnhurst Cemetery.

WILLIAM E. PLEMONS,

age 74 died at 7:45 a.m. Tue, 10 May 1994. He was cremated, and his ashes were buried in Franklin Memorial Gardens in Winchester, TN. He was born 28 April 1920, in Winchester, TN, the son of

Frank and Mary Yates Plemons. He married Stella Elliott. She died 27 Oct. 1983, in Peoria, IL. One brother also preceded him in death. Surviving are one son, Hollis Plemons of North Pekin; one daughter, Mary Sears of Pekin;

three sisters; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was a World War II Marine Corps veteran. He was an assembler at Caterpillar Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 1980.
