LISA JANEL PLEMONS NEWMAN, 33, of Athens, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2002 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Jene Robert Plemons and was a Head Start teacher in Englewood for eight years. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, John L. Russell, Jr.; and her paternal grandparents, Gus and Ethel Harris Plemons.
Survivors include her mother, Marion Russell Plemons of Athens; one son, Tyler Adam Newman of Athens; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Rocky and Tammy Plemons of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Mark and Carol Plemons of Etowah; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Melody and Jerry Plemons Richt of Cleveland, Tennessee, and Laura Plemons of Athens; her maternal grandmother, Lillie E. Salisbury Russell of Athens; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be at 2 P.M. on Saturday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with Brother James Moore officiating. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. Ziegler Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of arrangements.

JACK MAYFIELD PLEMONS, 82, of Arlington, TX passed from this life on Sunday, 10
February 2002. Burial was at Parkdale
Cemetery in Arlington.
Colonel Jack Plemons was born 1 Oct 1919 in Mart, TX. Moving to
Fort Worth in 1930, Jack was a 1937 graduate of Poly High School.
He served in the Army Air Corps as an instructor pilot during World
War II and worked for the Army National Guard as aircraft support facility commander
in Grand Prairie, TX for 23 Years. Jack completed helicopter training at
Gary AFB and Fort Sill, OK, in 1953 and attended the Command & General
Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, KS in 1971. He was the commander
of the 149th Aviation Battalion when he retired in June of 1973.
Col Plemons married Eileen Gillis in Fort Worth on 31 Aug 1940.
His wife is a retired school teacher, private piano teacher, church
organist and Bible teacher. He was a member of Fielder Road Baptist
Church and was an active deacon.
Survivors: His wife, Eileen Gillis Plemons; two sons, Jerry Plemons and
Carroll Plemons of Arlington; one daughter, Judy Plemons Elkins of
Stephenville; six grandchildren, Jeff, Scott, and Amy Plemons, Christy
Schmidt, and Mike and Steve Elkins; and two great-grandchildren, Haley
and Kendall Plemons.

BRYANT EDGAR PLEMONS, 82, of Athens, Tennessee, passed away Friday March 8, 2002, at Fort Sanders Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.
A native of Monroe County and lifelong resident of Athens, he was a son of the late Gus and Ethel Hicks Plemons and was a member of East Athens Baptist Church. He was a retired employee of Athens Stove Works after forty years. He was preceded in death by his first wife of forty years, Nina Akins Plemons; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Johnson Plemons of Athens; one daughter and son-in-law, Faye and Dillard Peel of Athens; one son, Troy Plemons of Murfreesboro; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray and Jesse Plemons of Athens, and Leonard and Betty Plemons of Athens; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Sue and Bob Underdown of Athens, Gustay Brazzell of Athens; one granddaughter, Donna Evans of Knoxville; one great-grandson, Dylan Evans of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Reverend Pete Mullins officiating. Burial was at McMinn Memory Gardens. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Leon Roy Sunday School class at East Athens Baptist Church.
