2003 REUNION

This year we go west. The 2003 Plemmons/Plemons reunion sponsored by Daniel and Connie Plemons is to be held at Knob Nobster State Park, Knob Nobster, Missouri. Located just south of the intersection of US 50 and State 23. Whiteman Air Force Base, home of the B2 is just across the highway from the state park. Arrive 2 July and leave 4 July or whenever you feel like it. Connie says counting children she already has 66 people signed up to attend.-- Joe Plemons

-------------------------------

Hello to all and Happy Valentines!! Well, we think we have about heard from most of you about the reunion that is coming up this year. We think we have about 66 people committed which include children. From these calculations, this is a list of how the charges will go: For a couple, it is going to come to $35. For a single person it will be $25. If you have children it will be $30, and $5 for each child down to the age of 2. If they are 2 or younger, they will be FREE.

This should be all we need if ALL of you that said you were coming really do come. If there are any additions to the list the charge will still be the same. If we don’t get that many people here, we will need to charge to take up the slack. In that case we may all have to divide the cost amongst ourselves to cover this.

So the word is ENCOURAGE EVERYONE to come. I don’t know where you can find cabins with showers, and a pool, walking trails, fishing, biking trails, museum, fresh air, lots of family and fun any cheaper. If you do, let me know and we will consider it for next year.

Remember to bring your floaties, swim suits, and towels, along with your bed rolls. We will have everything else –WE THINK!!

The menu will be as follows: The first day, July 2nd, we will check in and have sandwiches that night because we can’t check in before 3 o’clock PM, so we will keep it simple. We will try to have some snack at night. The next day, the 3rd, we will have a continental style breakfast, do your own thing for lunch or munch on left-overs from the night before (There is a McDonalds, Subway & and little grocery store about 3 miles around the bend from the park, and there are larger stores in the town about 5 – 8 miles around the other end including a Super Wal-Mart and other grocers.) Then, for dinner, there is a bonfire planned with hotdogs, chili, potato salad, macaroni salad, and sammores. The next day, the 4th, we plan to have a similar breakfast, and a light lunch before we leave the park at 3:00 PM.

For those who stay beyond the 4th, we will be going to the Pizza Street or Cici’s Pizza that night and it is a $2.99 buffet and then to the fireworks display so you will need to plan for that.

The money you send will pay for the food we eat at the reunion EXCEPT YOUR JUNK – STASH!!! If you want to bring other things that is up to you. BUT REMEMBER – we are responsible for the clean up and if we make a mess and leave it there will be a charge for that so lets all be neat. I will be taking a tour with the park ranger just prior to out checking in and he will make a list of all the things in the park inside and out and we will do the same at the end of the reunion after all of you are gone and if there is ANYTHING wrong we will be charged. So let’s keep that in mind!! Thanks!!

For all of you that have not paid the $15 deposit per family or individual, I need that now!!! NOW ASAP!! That is to insure you a place in the game. If we do real REAL good and don’t have any extra expense that may be deducted from you overall cost and refunded to you or we can start a reunion fund and start planning for the next one. But if we aren’t good, and we make a mess or break something that needs to be replaced or repaired, we forfeit the deposit.

You can’t all know how very excited we are about your planning to come. This year our oldest participating member is now 90 and we do down from there. You know we have not been together for a few years now and we aren’t getting any younger. We desperately need to get to know all the new additions, and renew our family bonds.

I will try to send you an update in the next couple of months as time draws nearer and let you know how things are shaping up. In the mean time, let me hear from any of you about suggestions for activities that you have that would be fun to add. Also, bring old pictures to display, genealogy to share, and we will have a book of the last reunion we had together, as well as the recipe book. DON’T FORGET THE RECIPES!! I need those ASAP as well to get the book together.

If you plan to stay after the 4th, I need to know what you plan. We have tents and some extra beds in other houses, but need to know before June. Also, all moneys will need to be paid by June 15th, so start saving for this now!
