Marsha Ann Plemons (Marti) has written a very interesting article on her early life and family. A warning: The story about the death of her father will leave a bad thought in your mind. I hope that we have learned a lot since that time. And, an even more chilling thought, I hope that what caused his death was not known before, and that he was just a necessary sacrifice. I would like to think that those in responsibility would be more caring but . . . .you decide.

Marti's Memories

Publication of the newsletter is a little early this time due to the announcement of the time and place of this year's family gathering. Take note of the article telling us of the things that we need to do to prepare for the coming "Family Reunion"."This year we go west", wrote Joe Plemons. He was referring to the 2003 Family Reunion. I will have an up-date in the Summer issue of "Branches" but there may be some things that we need to consider in planning our trip.

2003 Family Reunion information!

This issue includes some memories from Bruce Laxton Plemmons about his early life. Bruce has been a faithful contributor to our family newsletter, and his article shows a new and interesting perspective on our family life. Many thanks go to Bruce for this insight. This in included in his letter.

Bruce's Letter

The mail was a little sparse this quarter, although we have another family mystery that we need to solve. Also, Cousin Jack Brumlow has discovered that we had a relative aboard the paddle-wheeler "Sultana", the infamous steam ship that blew up just up the Mississippi River from Memphis, Tennessee. The "Sultana" was carrying Northern troops home from the war in 1865 when the boiler exploded killing close to 1500 men.

Mail Bag

We have a wedding announcement and a graduation announcement to report on this time.

Announcements

And, sadly, we also have some obituaries to report, including one of someone you may remember from our last family reunion.
