To Claude Westerfield - Our Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp will be dedicating a confederate marker for our Great Grandfather Joseph T Plemons this month. It will be April 26, 2003 3:00 p.m. at the Crawford Cemetery. I know you will not be able to attend but wanted to let you know it was being done and if you want to pass the information along to the other relatives, feel free to do so. Doyle

3-18-03 Dear Warren, Just a small note to say “Thank you” for Branches! We are not on the same branch but from the same tree. I read every word and I am still looking for the connection through my great-grandfather, James O. Plemmons. My line goes James Newton Plemmons, then Raymond Plemmons, and then me, Bernice Plemons Clark.

We will miss your reunion this year, but maybe next year will be better. Bernice Clark, Quartzsite, Arizona

May 21, 2003 Hello Bernice,

I had lost your note in the shuffle of papers here on my desk and found it by accident this morning. I hope that you remember sending it on March 18. I apologize for the delay in answering. I have had a pretty busy springtime here and things do not always go according to our "best-laid-plans".

In searching ancestry, I find Raymond Plemmons, but his wife and children are un-named. I think that this may be your family and will pass it along in hopes that you can help fill in some blanks. Raymond was born February 18, 1908, in Joe, Madison County, North Carolina. Does this sound familiar?

Raymond's father is James Newton Plemmons, and mother Harriet Keener. There are 12 children in the family.

But here is a difference: The father of James Newton shows to be James L. Plemmons, and mother Elizabeth Ledford. Six children in this family. The difference between James O. and James L. is slight, and you are probably correct and I have it spelled wrongly. I have always said that the best source of information is from the family themselves, and NOT documents and records. After all, we should know best of the who and what about our own family, shouldn't we??

So, assuming that we are on the right track and this is your line, James' father is Andrew Plemmons, and mother Dorcas Smith, with ten children in this family. Andrew's father is Peter Plemmons, and mother is Susan Jane (?) with ten children in this family. Peter's father is John, and Elizabeth Jane Pritchard, with eight children. John's father is Thomas Plemin, wife unknown. And this is about as far back as anyone has reliably been able to trace the family line.

By the way, I can provide any details, like children's names and dates of birth/death that you would like to have. Just let me know. And if you can help me by filling in information about Raymond,s wife and family, I certainly will be appreciative.

If this information makes sense to you and you think that we might be on the right track, then you and I would be fourth cousins - once removed. (The computer makes it easy to calculate these things. I'm not that smart!) Let me know what you think. And it was great hearing from you. Your friend and relative - Warren
