OBITUARIES
FORREST MONROE PLEMONS, 77, of Hixson, TN died Friday, May 9, 2003, in a local hospital. Mr. Plemons was a Korean veteran; a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church; and a member of the Red Bank Masonic Lodge. He was a retiree of U. S. Pipe & Foundry, Inc. after 34 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Veda Sears Plemons; son, Jesse;
daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Larry Wright; grandson, Forrest Dean
Wright; and sister and brother-in-law, Kathreen and J. B. Horton.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 12, at North Chapel of the
Chattanooga Funeral Home with Charles Bryan and Herman Callahan officiating.
Internment will be in the National Cemetery.
Forrest had a lot of health problems. He had a pacemaker put in last
March. His legs stayed swollen because heart was too weak to keep fluids
properly circulated. A pacemaker helped to reduce the swelling in his
legs. He was in a lot of pain with arthritic knee, but they could not put
in a knee replacement because his weakened heart could not withstand the
surgery.

VERNON EDWARD EDDIE PLEMONS, 48, of Philadelphia, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2003 at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga.
A veteran of the U.S. Marines, he was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Plemons. Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Linda Cagle Plemons; his mother, Betty Derrick of Sweetwater; his mother-in-law, Leona Cagle of Athens; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Travis Sharp of Athens, and Nicole and Cleatis Fritts of Loudon; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Eddie Joe Plemons of Cincinnati, Ohio, Clinton Michael and Vickie Sloan, and Vernon Hoyt and Christy Sloan, all of Madisonville, Tennessee; three sisters, Patricia Ann Burns of Knoxville, Brenda Laverne Stout and Katherine Plemons, both of Sweetwater; three brothers, Floyd Dale Plemons, of Dayton, Ohio, Tony Lee Plemons and Billy Joe Plemons, both of Sweetwater; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at 8 P.M., Sunday in the chapel of Bierely-Hale Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Jackson and the Rev. Bill Lynn officiating. Burial was at 1 P.M. Monday at Hiwassee Church of God Cemetery. The family received friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, of Madisonville, is in charge of arrangements.
